As a working model, actress, teacher, and spokeswoman, Suzanne Von Schaack’s impressive career has spanned throughout all facets of the fashion world.
Suzanne’s prestigious modeling career began at a John Robert Powers School in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. After her training, Suzanne moved to New York where she attended modeling conventions and studied acting.
Suzanne quickly found herself being represented by world renowned modeling agencies throughout Paris, Milan, New York, and California. She has graced the pages of various magazines such as “Vogue,” “Harper’s Bazaar”, “L’Official Paris,” and “Camera 35.” Not limiting herself to only magazine ads and fashion print, Suzanne has also represented high end department stores like Neiman Marcus, Saks 5th Avenue, Nordstorms, I. Magnin, Bullocks, Broadway, and Macys in many fashion spreads. Suzanne has worked the runways of top designers Mary MCFaden, Bob Mackie, Bill Blass, Nolan Miller, Pierre Cardin, David Hayes, Versace, Pauline Triquire, Givenchy, and Chanel.
After conquering the New York fashion world, Suzanne decided to relocate to Los Angeles and pursue acting. She studied at Playhouse West with Jeff Goldblum and found herself in various television and film projects. She made a guest appearance on the popular 80’s series “Scarecrow and Mrs. King” as well as soap opera classics “Dynasty”, “Dallas”, and “The Young and the Restless”. Recently she has appeared as an etiquette instructor on the reality shows “Blind Date” and “Extreme Dating.”
Suzanne can be seen in the feature films “Tootsie” starring Dustin Hoffman, “Whatever it Takes”, “Fashionably LA”, and “Down N’ Dirty”, and Woody Allen’s “Zelig”. In December, she will be filming “Soft Target” directed by Art Comacho, starring Gary Busey and Don ‘The Dragon’ Wilson.
After 30 plus years in the business, Suzanne found herself sharing her knowledge and insight of the fashion industry by teaching students the tricks of the trade for becoming a professional model. For the past seven years, Suzanne has guest lectured at all of the southern California John Robert Powers Schools as an instructor in courses such as Image, Fashion and Commercial Print, Runway Modeling, and Communication.
Suzanne has worked with LA’s Best Enrichment and After School Program, serving as a choreographer for fashion shows as well as coordinating a show for EBAY during L.A.’s fashion week. In addition to her runway work, Suzanne has added pageant training to her already full plate of skills. Suzanne coached the recent winner of the Miss California pageant and is now training her for the national competition. She has also coached her daughter, Danielle, to win the Miss Hawaiian Tropics regional division. Suzanne is proud to acknowledge that many of her students have been represented by top agencies in Los Angeles and have gone on to have wonderful careers.
Suzanne believes the formula for success is when preparation meets opportunity. She emphasizes on the total package of a person as a selling point for agents and casting directors. Look, style, personality, attitude, make-up, clothes, nails, hair, confidence, and body all come into play when competing as a professional. Suzanne offers workshops in how to move and walk on the runway, dress, and promoting and packaging. As a passionate teacher, Suzanne gives her students the confidence to allow their unique qualities to shine through.
